San Rafael’s Pharmacy is a Puerto Rican owned pharmacy that provides delivery services island wide and located in the San Juan metro area. As a community pharmacy, we are always talking to our customers about their health concerns. We treat clients with different symptoms of Diabetes such as Diabetic Foot. We always want to go above and beyond just handing someone their medication. We work together with the patients and doctors to ensure clients are on the right track to getting healthy
Since we like to collaborate with our community, we are organizing a health clinic with CooPharma in our neighborhood of Santurce in San Juan. We have been a member of Coopharma since 2002. They are Coop of 350 Puerto Rican Pharmacies who provide quality services to the communities they serve.
Community education is a vital part of our mission, and as in previous years, it is a pleasure to be part of the CooPharma “En Ruta” Program and offer our community different screening tests at the Health Clinics.
What is Diabetic Foot?
Since the health clinic is going to be offering to screen on Diabetic Foot, some clients might not know they have a symptom of the diabetic foot. Some people might not know what Diabetic Foot is and what causes this type of health issue related to Diabetes.
According to Wikipedia symptoms of Diabetic Foot are connected to Diabetes:
“ A diabetic foot is a foot that exhibits any pathology that results directly from diabetes mellitus or any long-term (or "chronic") complication of diabetes mellitus.[1] The presence of several characteristic diabetic foot pathologies such as infection, diabetic foot ulcer, and neuropathic osteoarthropathy is called diabetic foot syndrome.
Due to the peripheral nerve dysfunction associated with diabetes (diabetic neuropathy), patients have a reduced ability to feel pain. This means that minor injuries may remain undiscovered for a long while.”
