When we go to the Eye Doctor, one of the first tests they do, before we start looking at the eye chart, is the test for Glaucoma. We put our heads and chins positioned into an instrument, and a puff of air shoots into our eyes. As uncomfortable as this may seem, it is the first step to learning if we have healthy eyes or if we need to see a specialist.
At San Rafael Pharmacy we have medications that cover all types of health issues including Diabetic Foot, CardioVascular Disease, and Glaucoma. As with any health problem, prevention and education are important, and we are always here to help you with questions and up-to-date information.
Since our admittance as a member of CooPharma Coop in 2002, we knew that educating our clients about their health issues was important. Collaborating with CooPharma and their Health Clinic initiatives go in line with how we serve our local community in the Santurce, San Juan area. CooPharma's “En Ruta” initiative is a free health clinic on Glaucoma and Diabetic Foot.
What is Glaucoma?
Most people won’t know they have Glaucoma symptoms unless they are screened at their yearly Eye appointment. CooPharma’s "En Ruta" program will provide our clients with up-to-date information about Glaucoma and Diabetic Foot and whether they are showing early signs of these two health issues.
According to MayoClinic Glaucoma Symptoms are:
- Seeing halos around lights
- Vision loss
- Redness in the eye
- Eye that looks hazy (particularly in infants)
- Nausea or vomiting
- Eye pain
- Narrowed vision (tunnel vision)
Join us for the Glaucoma and Diabetic Foot Health Clinic
On Thursday, July 27th, CooPharma will provide free Health Screenings for Glaucoma and Diabetic Foot. The health clinic will be between 9 a.m and 12 p.m. Come to the pharmacy and visit the truck that will be parked outside. If you haven’t gone to the eye doctors recently, now is a good time to see if you have early Glaucoma symptoms.
We hope to see you and your neighbors.
